Have you heard about how enzymes have been said to be the fountain of life? Enzymes are needed to do practically everything inside our bodies, and yet enzymes are quite possibly the least understood. Sad, but true. If you want to be healthy and slim, you have to take a moment to understand more about enzymes.

FAQs on ENZYMES & HEALTH
♥Q. WHAT ARE ENZYMES?
A: Enzymes are proteins that facilitate chemical reactions in the body. Almost every process in our body requires the work of enzymes.
Enzymes are responsible for digestion, absorption, transporting, metabolizing and eliminating waste. Every single cell in our body, and every single process that takes place inside of us, are dependent on enzymes.
We need enzymes to perform practically every single function required for our daily activities. In addition to our immune and defense systems, we require enzymes not only to eat, digest and absorb nutrients, but also to see, hear, smell, taste, breathe and move.
Simply put, enzymes are the key to life. No enzymes, no life.
It is perhaps worth quoting one of the masters in the field of enzyme studies at this point. Dr. Edward Howell, pioneer of Enzyme Therapy states:
“Enzymes are substances that make life possible. They are needed for every chemical reaction that takes place in the human body.
Without enzymes, no activity at all would take place. Neither vitamins, minerals, or hormones can do any work without enzymes.”
♥Q: ARE THERE MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF ENZYMES?
A: There are some 3,000 known enzymes and they fall into three main categories:
* Food enzymes are found in raw food;
* Metabolic enzymes work in blood, tissues and organs;
* Digestive enzymes work in breaking down proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
Yes, you can infer that there are two major enzyme systems in the human body, namely, digestive and metabolic. These are naturally secreted and found in our bodies.
The digestive enzymes help break down all of the food that we eat so that it can be absorbed by the body. The metabolic enzymes help to run all of the systems of the body from respiratory system to the nervous system.
♥Q: WHAT ABOUT FOOD ENZYMES?
A: Food enzymes are those enzymes that are present only in RAW FOOD and contain varying quantities of the four basic types of plant enzymes: protease used in protein digestion, amylase for carbohydrate digestion, lipase for fat digestion and cellulose for fiber digestion.
Every raw food contains exactly the right amount and type of enzyme necessary to digest a particular food. For example, fruit high in carbohydrates, i.e., bananas contain high amounts of amylase. Fruits high in fat, such as, avocados contain high amounts of lipase.
Food enzymes enter the body along with raw food. Although enzymes are present in all raw foods, they break down when cooking temperatures are greater than 118 degrees Fahrenheit.
♥Q: DO YOU MEAN TO SAY ALL THE FOOD THAT WE EAT CONTAINS THE ENZYMES REQUIRE TO BREAK ITSELF DOWN FOR DIGESTION?
A: Technically, yes, the food that we eat will itself contain the enzymes necessary for digestion… PROVIDED WE EAT OUR FOOD RAW.
While food enzymes supposedly enter the body along with the food that we eat, this is only true if we eat our food raw. You see, enzymes break down and are lost when cooking temperatures reach over 118 degrees Fahrenheit.
Most of us eat most of our food cooked (or even over-cooked in some cases), so by the time the food enters our body, the food usually does not contain anymore enzymes.
What this means is we will need to ‘borrow‘ and deplete whatever enzyme reserves we have in our bodies to digest our food intake.
But complication can arise as enzymes are a ‘particular‘ lot and they are highly ‘specialized‘ in the work they do. So each enzyme does a specific kind of thing. So if we lack that particular enzyme to digest a certain food, then sorry, the food will not get fully digested and may be stored in our bodies and become what we call ‘toxins‘.
This can also cause some of us to get really fat and/or become unhealthy and prone to sickness.
♥Q: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE KEEP EATING COOKED FOOD THAT IS DEPRIVED BY ENZYMES?
A: When the body receives cooked foods that have lost their own natural enzymes, it increases its numbers of white blood cells as a defense mechanism.
Enzymes are then released from these white blood cells as well as from the lymphatic tissue and spleen where they also are stored in the body to digest toxins.
When white blood cells are continually elevated due to a diet of cooked (enzyme-deprived) foods, the immune system is weakened. This is because enzymes, normally held in storage to fight infection, are drawn out of storage for the purpose of digesting the cooked food that we eat.
Yes, there is actually a direct link between the strength of our immune system and our enzyme levels. The more enzymes we have the stronger our immune and digestive system will be.
♥Q: ARE SUPPLEMENTAL ENZYMES NECESSARY? DON’T OUR BODIES MAKE THEIR OWN ENZYMES?
A: Yes, our bodies do make your own enzymes. If we ate a diet of raw foods as your only or main source of nutrition, you would get to keep most of the enzymes that our bodies produce.
However, eating cooked or processed foods uses up valuable enzymes in the digestive process. When one chooses to continue those dietary habits, along with the aging process, more enzymes are needed for the metabolic function of the body, the demand for enzymes then exceed the supply available.
If we eat a diet consisting of about 70-80% raw foods, then no, we will not need supplemental enzymes. But in this day and age, who even has a half a diet comprising raw foods?
Since more than half the time, we are eating enzyme-deprived cooked foods, we do need to consider supplemental enzymes, either in the forms of pills or enzyme drinks such as the Haruhada Enzyme Fruit & Vegetable Drink.

♥Q: ISN’T TAKING A DAILY MULTI-VITAMIN AND MINERAL SUPPLEMENT ENOUGH?
A: No, not if your body cannot use the dietary supplements that you are taking. Vitamins & minerals are co-enzymes, as such, they require that other enzymes act on them in order to release their benefits.
If the body is unable to supply those necessary enzymes in the proper quantities at the proper time the vitamins & minerals simply become inert materials and pass through your body unused.
♥Q: WHAT OTHER TIPS DO YOU HAVE ON HEALTHY EATING?
A: We should all eat properly and follow a balanced diet containing a substantial amount of fresh foods in each meal. We should also avoid highly processed foods and high levels of preservatives, additives or chemicals.
We can also take natural digestive enzymes in order to support the digestion of processed or cooked foods. Consider the Haruhada Enzyme Fruit & Vegetable Drink as a enzyme supplement!
Every food that has been cooked, boiled, heated, grilled, baked has lost its enzymes and is a burden to our organs which have to supply the digestive enzymes. As almost nobody in our modern age is willing to eat everything raw, you have to ensure that you consume supplemental enzyme for every cooked meal.
It is also good to stay away from processed foods as they often contain enzyme inhibitors (to prolong shelf life), chemicals, sugar (white sugar is destructive to our bodies, and contributes to obesity) and avoid salt as it is an indirect enzyme inhibitor.
♥Q: WHO ARE SUPPLEMENTAL ENZYMES FOR?
A: Enzymes, including the Haruhada Enzyme Fruit & Vegetable Drink, are essential for EVERYONE who eats cooked food.
In fact, anyone who has any understanding of health will be taking digestive enzyme supplements with every single meal he eats!
Supplemental enzymes are especially beneficial if YOU:
* Are trying to lose weight
* Love to eat meat
* Tend to over-eat
* Do not eat enough fruits and vegetables
* Have skin conditions
* Are easily fatigued (due to digestive issues)
* Have poor digestion
